Seagull Recommends 05/08

Hello and welcome back to Seagull Recommends! I've been really into zines recently, they're really good. They're very cathartic to make, they tap into colour and collage and creativity in an ideal way for my brain, and they're very small. This is good, because if there's a limited amount of space it means everything has to be very intentional. Or it can just be very fun! I made a very fun one about Brighton Baseball Club and how much my friends and I love them. I recommend reading more about them here.

If you come across anything coming up in the city that you think we should know about, let us know!

Bus routes: The 1X bus is up and running, and it certainly seems to have lived up to the hype. Friend of The Seagull Mattie said:

Got on at North Street, usually grab the 1 or the 7 but the 1X showed up with perfect timing. Sailed along Eastern Road and took immense joy at passing by the stops at Upper Bedford Street and Lidl with only the quick stop at the RSH to interrupt me. Made it to my stop on Roedean Road in record time 🫡 will be even faster when they finish the work on the roundabout there.

Lunch: Mattie's had a busy week, because she also went out for lunch and told us all about it:

I went to the Druid’s Head for lunch with my grandparents, it was good. I had the vegan burger, my Poppa had the duck hash and my Nan the fish and chips. The pub has the some very cool decor with old folky symbols like the green man on the wall. The staff are so lovely and make you feel so welcome!

🥙Dinner: Friend of The Seagull, Corn, went to Albion Kebab:

I got an absolute banger chicken shawarma wrap from Albion kebab on queens road, props to bossman for getting that wrap into my hand quick n speedy on the double amidst the chaos of queens road during pride, was very nourishing and flavourful + also HUGE like to be Full full for under £10 in this current time? What a treat.
