Seagull Recommends 16/09
Hello and welcome back to Seagull Recommends! This week we've got protests against TERFs, pop music and a lot of comedy. If you come across anything coming up in the city that you think we should know about, let us know!
Seagull Recommends
🎶Gigs: Superorganism, maximalist popstars who have fascinated our editor since 2018, are at Chalk tonight (tickets); The Big Moon is one of the most talented bands out there at the moment, with frontwoman Juliette Jackson’s crooning vocals and intricate riffs and drum rolls to match them—they'll be at Concorde 2 this Tuesday and you'd be fool to miss them (tickets).
🤣Comedy: The team are excited for Sofie Hagen's Fat Jokes at Komedia on Thursday, we saw them at Brighton Festival in 2020 and they were very good (tickets); there's also an evening of comedy (An Evening of Comedy) this Sunday in aid of Sarcoma UK and in memory of Phil Jerrod full of comedians like Romesh Ranganathan, Seann Walsh and Tom Allen (tickets).
🚩Politics: An anti-TERF protest is being held at Victoria Gardens on Sunday at midday, to stand against a rally organised by Posie Parker, aka Kellie-Jay Keen. Organisers encourage people to bring flags, noisemakers and face coverings.
🍱Food and drink: Iydea has an ever-changing menu of vegetarian and vegan mains, sides, dressings and salads, for a very good price. Seagull's editorial team can often be found there—make sure you try the arancini and wedges, as well as the mustard dressing!
