Seagull Recommends 21/10

Hello and welcome back to Seagull Recommends! This week we've got Sugababes, recommendations from Photo Fringe and more. If you come across anything coming up in the city that you think we should know about, let us know!

🎶Gigs: Dreamy pop duo Let's Eat Grandma will be at Patterns TONIGHT with some gorgeous melodies and excellent guitars (tickets); very good folk singer Grace Petrie is at Concorde 2 this Saturday: expect very good protest songs and a lovely time (tickets); everyone's favourite pop group from the late nineties, Sugababes, will be at the Brighton Centre on Thursday—they're back to the original line-up, and our editor and her mum are incredibly excited (tickets),

🎥Cinema: Moonage Daydream will be showing at Duke's at Komedia tomorrow at 8pm: an immersive cinematic experience, it explores the legacy of David Bowie through his music and some never-before-seen concert footage. Tickets here for tomorrow's showing, which is also audio described on request.

📸Photography: Opening tonight (6-8pm) and running until Sunday 6th November, a solo photography show by Sofia Yala will be taking place at Nadir Project Space. Taking individual and familial identity as a starting point, Fragments of My Journey explores wider questions about memory, experience and archive through different textures, layers and lens-based mediums. This is part of @photofringe 2022, which runs until Sunday 30th October, and will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5pm.

🎭Theatre: As news spreads of a murder in London, a group of seven strangers find themselves snowed in at a remote countryside guesthouse. When a police sergeant arrives, the guests discover – to their horror – that a killer is in their midst! Which one is the murderer? Who will be their next victim? Can you solve this world-famous mystery for yourself? Of course, it's Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, and it will be at the Theatre Royal Brighton from Monday to Saturday next week. Tickets here!

🍱Food: Botanique on Western Road, the all-vegan spinoff of perennial Lanes favourite Food For Friends, the rustic decor and inventive treatment of vegetables might be expensive but is unqustionably one of the best dining experiences in the city right now.

☕️Coffee: Bond Street Coffee in Bond Street (no!) will satisfy even the fiercest coffee snob with its wide variety of coffees and brewing methods. Just don't sit in the chair in the window—that's the editor's seat!

🍺Pint: The Basketmakers' Arms is one of the cosiest and most charming pubs in Brighton. Find yourself a table against the wall and have a look at the messages in the tins attached to the wall and maybe add one of your own! If they still have it on tap, we'd recommend the YellowHammer Carnival cider (drink responsibly).
