🎭Comedy: Having been at Brighton Fringe and deciding he couldn't get enough of the city, Simon David is bringing Dead Dad Show back, at Komedia on Friday 21st July. We reviewed it last time, saying:

Dead Dad Show is a touching and hilarious tribute to David’s dad Simon, the person he was, the person he raised, life with him and life after him.

Simon David offers us a glimpse into grief and the very human avoidance of dealing with it, into loss and a beautiful father/son relationship. David has managed to honour is dad Simon in the most appropriate way; in a way only he could.

Tickets available here!

🎬Film: The most important cultural event, the film of the decade, the film topped to win big during awards season, comes out on Friday 21st July. And so does Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. But we're here to talk about Barbie! Join Duke's at Komedia for dress-up screenings, dog-friendly screenings, autism-friendly screenings, and captioned screenings (tickets).

🪩Club: And if you're not all Barbie'd out after that, on Saturday 22nd July Komedia is hosting a special Barbie Party! Gather your fellow Barbies and Kens and glam yourself up in your finest pink attire as you prepare for the campest club extravaganza of the year—Kens, kens, kens across the board (tickets).

🎾Petition: Badgers Tennis Club have started a petition after landlords of Badgers Tennis Club in Kemptown served notice of eviction, requiring the club to leave their site by September 3rd.  For over 130 years the club has provided sports and social facilities for local people, reaching out to all sections of the community with a special emphasis on young players. The club today is popular, and has been listed by the council as an 'Asset of Community Value'. Find out more here.

🦊Protest: Campaigners from national animal welfare charity the League Against Cruel Sports will be gathering at the Clock Tower at 11:30am on Saturday 15th July, launching a campaign calling on National Park authorities across England and Wales to end fox hunting on their land.

🍱Food: Bincho Yakitori in Preston Street was recommended by friend of The Seagull, Geeta. She said:

Yakitori is tender and delicious, but make sure to book because sometimes you can't get a table. It's just great and I love it. Japanese vibes. Great service, polite staff. It was more about the food to be honest than anything else. It was just really nice. Good flavours, simple concept but good execution. It was quite a quick visit because we had to leave the doggies at home. Please stop asking me about it now because I just don't have that much information.

☕️Coffee: The Botanist Coffee Co. in Gloucester Road does incredible coffee and vegan apple cake in a beautiful, cosy, plant-filled cafe. Perfect for a cosy catch-up and dogspotting!
