🎶Gigs: Post punk band The Chameleons are at Chalk on Thursday, as part of their 20 year reunion tour (tickets); also on Thursday night is Hidden Herd Presents, Brighton's new music discovery night, showcasing Car Boot Sale, FEZ, and The Roebucks at The Prince Albert (tickets); Brighton Psych Fest returns this Friday! Split across Concorde 2, Komedia, The Hope & Ruin, Green Door Store and The Prince Albert are the very best of psych, metal and rock: Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs, Pigs; The Horrors; Das Koolies; Girl and Girl; NewDad; The Bug Club; and much more (tickets).
🎭Theatre: This Wednesday, Chapterhouse Theatre Company is bringing Little Women to Brighton Open Air Theatre. Meet headstrong Jo March and her sisters Meg, Amy, and Beth. Each sister is determined to pursue her own path in life, but though their dreams may be different, their family ties remain as true as ever. An uplifting and heartfelt tale of the March sisters’ journey into adulthood and all the trials and triumphs that come with it (tickets).
🤣Comedy: This Wednesday is The Alternative Comedy Jam, a space for comedians and performers to explore their 'weird and wonderful side' with character comedy, alternative comedy, improv, clowning and sketches (tickets (£1!)); Forge Comedy Club returns to Ironworks Studios this Friday and Saturday, with comedy from Stephen Grant, Liam Withnail, Dan Fardell, Hasan Al-Habib, Kate Barron Diane Spencer, Morgan Rees and Tom Houghton (Friday and Saturday tickets).
🎤Hippodrome: This Friday, the hippodrome will hold its first performance since it closed as an entertainment venue on November 22nd 1964 with Chuck Berry. From 10am to 4pm, the hippodrome will be open for people to see the work that has been done so far. There will also be performances from Peter Joannau every hour for 30 minutes, from midday to 3pm. After Friday, the building will be closed for two years for the remaining work to be carried out, so this is your last chance to see it before it reopens!
🏺Pottery workshop: Liberation Art Gallery is holding a pottery workshop this Sunday evening. Join us for an amazing pottery experience at our weekly pottery workshop here at Liberation Art Gallery! Under the guidance of Vanessa, an exhibiting artist at the gallery, you'll learn to use a pottery wheel to make your own pot, and you'll get the chance to make a pinch bowl, exploring various modeling techniques with specialised tools. All materials are provide (and snacks), just make sure to wear some old clothes (tickets).
🛍️Market: The Ledward Centre's queer market returns this Saturday, from 11am to 5pm, with a mix of artisan crafts, original art, handmade jewellery, gifts and more; also on Saturday is the Open Market's Makers Market, from 10am to 5pm, with handmade art, gifts, crafts, treats, homewares and clothes.
📽️Film workshop: Film workshops are taking place this week specifically for young people aged 14-16 who are eligible for free school meals. The workshops take place over two days, this Wednesday and Thursday. Working with Kittyflicks Productions, participants will develop skills and confidence in filmmaking, learn camera techniques, sound recording, interviewing and editing (tickets).

At Bravo Patisserie on Brighton’s bustling London Road, I had a spinach and feta pastry that was simply delightful. it was cheap and tasty and very quick which I needed because I was getting lunch between meetings.
