Seagull Recommends 28/10

Hello and welcome back to Seagull Recommends! This week we're a bit late because our editor was having too much fun at The Sugababes last night, but we've got Porridge Radio, free oat chai lattes, women's comedy nights and more. If you come across anything coming up in the city that you think we should know about, let us know!

Seagull Recommends

🎶Gigs: Perennial Seagull favourite The Undercover Hippy will bring his politically driven roots reggae hip-hop to Patterns tomorrow, absolutely worth checking out if you've never seen him (tickets); Mercury Prize nominees Porridge Radio will be doing two nights at The Old Market in Hove on Tuesday and Wednesday, but there's something very special about them: in response to the cost of living crisis, they've set aside 30 tickets per show to be discounted for people who haven't been able to buy tickets due to financial worries, in the hopes that this makes the shows accessible to those who want to go. It's done on an honour system, so please don't buy them if you're in a position to afford the regular price, okay? They're also raising money for The Trussell Trust at their shows. What a band. Their music is very good too! Tickets here for Tuesday and Wednesday.

🤣Comedy: Halloween specials tonight and tomorrow at Komedia Comedy Club, featuring Rob Kemp, Kate Barron and more (tickets); also on this Saturday is Funny Women, with Hannah Fairweather, Bronwyn Sweeney and more performing in support of local charity RISE, which provides essential services for women and children who have experienced domestic violence (tickets);

🍱Food: Halisco in Preston Street has an unmissable Dia de los Muertos menu on Wednesday 2nd November! For £30 per person, you'll be served a feast of roasted glazed pumpkin with mole poblano, vegan mexican chorizo with jalapeño salsa, and homemade horchata ice cream. Chips and salsa too obviously, it is a Mexican restaurant after all. All booking to be done through [email protected].

Tea: Swing by Bad Luck Social Club for good vibes, vegan pastries and if you're lucky, a free oat chai latte from Minor Figures. They've got 50 free ones, but if you're unlucky #51, you're paying...
