Seagull Recommends 29/07
All the hot events from across the city.
Hello and welcome back to Seagull Recommends! The number one thing our editor recommends this week: getting engaged! Our co-founders got engaged yesterday, hence the slightly delayed Seagull Recommends. Extremely brat.
This week we've got lots of X, Y and Z. Enjoy!
If you come across anything coming up in the city that you think we should know about, let us know!

🎟️Quiz: West Hill Community Quiz is this Tuesday, at West Hill Hall. Open to all comers, this Quiz does not take itself very seriously, although it is seriously good fun. The Quiz Setter even gives the participants clues! Doors open at 7:15pm, quiz starts 8pm. Entry is £1 and a donated raffle prize for the table.
🎭Baseball: Brighton Baseball Club is wrapping up for the season in two weeks, and we hear it's the the semi-finals this Sunday…
👗Clothes swap: Kindly at Seven Dials is hosting its first ever clothes swap on Thursday. From 5pm to 8pm, enjoy a free entry, gender inclusive clothes swap—bonus points if they're perfect for pride!
🍱Food: Team Seagull went to Bonsai Plant Kitchen's Forma supper club last night:
The dinner was delightful, six small tasting plates celebrating fresh, locally grown vegetables. We started with a green tomato gazpacho and croutons which was incredible, an aubergine dip with crackers (enjoyed even by aubergine haters), there was focaccia and vegan n'duja and braised chickpeas and local beetroots and the most refreshing Horlicks parfait with sherry caramel and strawberries. It was all delicious—we were very, very tired after three hours though.
☕️Coffee: Milkbar on the seafront (inside the Volk's Electric Railway Aquarium Station) have a lovely seating area, with views of the sea, and make the best coffee in Brighton (in our opinion).
