🎶Gigs: LTJ Bukem and Mantmast are at The Volks Nightclub this Friday, from 11pm to 7am (tickets); The Bass Bin is holding a beach picnic on Saturday night, expect reggae, hiphop, bassline, jungle and drum & bass from 5pm to 11:30pm, bring your dinner picnic and enjoy the sunset; also this Saturday from 1pm is Green Door Store's Hidden Herd All-Dayer, featuring Adult DVD, Bishopskin, Currls, Trip Westerns, Fräulein, Ladylike, Vanity Fairy, Room Service and The Stanford Family Band (tickets).
🎭Comedy: Brighton Comedy Garden starts on Wednesday and runs through to the weekend, with sets from Harry Hill, Maisie Adam, and Dara Ó Briain (tickets); An excellent line-up at Forge Comedy Club at Ironworks Studios this Friday: Stephen Grant, Eva Bindeman, Adam Coumas, Alex Mason, and the incomparable Zoe Lyons, founder of former comedy night Bent Double (tickets).
🎙️Talks: Curious Histories is putting on a summer special this Thursday exploring two different questions about human entertainment: why was Lewes formerly one of the most drunken towns in Sussex, and why has vinyl had such a resurgence? Held at 74 East Street, it runs from 7pm to 10pm (tickets).
🚩Politics: This Thursday (election day! Don't forget to vote!) is The Treason Show, Brighton's long running, award-winning, topical satirical comedy show. This is what it's all about, and it's a general election special edition, you don't want to miss this (tickets).
🎨Art exhibition: TransSober is launching an art exhibition at The Ledward Centre: A New World: Trans+ Sober Realities. Taking place this Friday, it includes an open mic and a free mocktail bar. There are more than twenty artists from around the world in the exhibition, including local artists Wednesday Holmes and Az Franco, and all funds donated on the night will go towards the running of the exhibition and to support TransSober. 🎨Collage Club: A perennial Seagull favourite, Cult Milk's Collage Club returns to The Hope and Ruin this Tuesday. Drop in from 6pm to 9pm, bring some magazines to donate if you can, and unwind and have fun while making a lovely collage. Or a terrifying collage. Up to you, really. Beer prizes available, and entry is free!
🏊♀️Swim: Tomorrow morning, from 7:30am to 8:30am, Salty Seabirds are doing a pier to pier swim. Alongside this, Surfers Against Sewage will be supporting them in a beach clean from the West side of the Palace Pier to West Pier.
Foraging workshop: On Sunday evening, Urban Forage are running a workshop on how to identify and forage wild sea vegetables and seaweed sustainably and safely. The workshop lasts two hours and starts at 6:30pm at Valet Car Wash at the marina (tickets).
